Freelander Goes Green

Despite the overwhelming majority of ‘petrolheads’ in the office here, never let it be said that Sureterm Direct doesn’t have just a smidgeon of concern over global warming.
So we were interested to hear about Land Rover’s latest announcement of some green-inspired technology to help reduce C02 emissions. From early 2009 a clever new stop-start system will be fitted to all new Freelander 2 TD4 manual 4×4s.
The gadget turns off engines when the vehicle is staionary and automatically restarts it when the driver wants to move off. Of course, the aim is to prevent unnecessary idling, thereby reducing emissions and wasted fuel in one fell swoop.
CO2 output could drop by as much as seven percent, from 194g/km down to 179g/km. Not only tha, the TD4 will slide down the Vehice Excise Duty list from band F to Band E.
