Sureterm tips for saving money on your 4×4 or classic car fuel consumption

The team here at Sureterm Direct Insurance dislike paying the inflated petrol and diesel prices at the pumps just as much as our customers. So we came up with some simple steps to save money on the fuel consumption of your 4×4 or classic car.
• Simple changes to your routine can make a big difference. For example, according to the Money Savings Handbook, a guide published by the consumer organisation Which?, just driving at 50mph instead of 70mph could skim as much as 30% off the fuel bills for your 4×4 or classic car
• According to estimates, a roof rack or box can add up to 30% to your 4×4 fuel bills because of the obstruction it causes to the car’s aerodynamic flow
• Under-inflated tyres on your classic or 4×4, can add another 8% as they cause more resistance, forcing the engine to work harder.
• The same principle applies to cluttered boots in your 4×4, in that fuel use will go up as the engine labours to transport heavy loads.
• Switching off the air con in your 4×4 can cut costs by as much as 10% if you normally have it on all the time
• A further 25% can be saved by simply changing up and down the gears in your classic car at the correct times.
• You could save between 7 or 8% on fuel costs with a little forward planning, using cruise control in your 4×4 all the time if possible and not accelerating suddenly.
Sureterm can also save you money on your 4×4 insurance or classic car insurance. All it takes is one call (which we pay for) to our friendly customer service team on 0800 999 2030 and you could be better off.
