Low Emission Zone Freeze
March 27th, 2009 by Alex Jeffery
It is expected that plans to extend the London Low Emission Zone to include lighter commercial vehicles, vans and motorhomes will be suspended.
Phase three was due to start on October 4th 2010 and affect around 90,000 light goods vehicles and vans up to 3.5 tonnes including motorcaravans.
There is no word on whether the proposed suspension is a permanent move or if phase three will be re-introduced when the economy improves.
The restrictions and charges already implemented will remain in place for pre-2001 motorhomes weighing over 2.5 tonnes. This means that if your motorhome has a gross vehicle weight of more than 3500kg and doesn’t meet the Euro III emissions standards then you will have to pay £200 for everyday you use the vehicle to drive in London.
