Winner of Car of the Year 2010 announced

According to the official website (http://www.caroftheyear.org) 33 cars were eligible for the Car of the Year 2010 award with all contenders either available now or soon in 5 or more European markets. The voting process was split into 2 stages with the first stage producing a short list of seven nominees. On 2nd November these nominees were announced as:

Citroën C3 Picasso
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Opel/Vauxhall Astra
Peugeot 3008
Skoda Yeti
Toyota iQ
Volkswagen Polo
On the 30th November 2009, the final results were announced and the top 3 cars were:

1st Place: Volkswagen Polo
2nd Place: Toyota iQ
3rd Place: Opel/Vauxhall Astra
The Volkswagen Polo took 3rd place in last years competition and is the first Volkswagen to win the Car of the Year award in 18 years (the previous winner being a Golf in 1992).
