Brian Brawdy who is a recognised conservationist in the U.S. has reportedly said that 25% of the RVs manufactured now have solar panels. A number also said to be increasing. Manufacturers are reportedly using lighter weight composite materials and pressure-sensitive, flexible fabric that weighs only a few ounces but holds like steel. Dow Automotive contractor Mark Formentini says that this helps cut down on fuel consumption.

The New lines of Class A and Class C motor homes are already using the technology. And Ron Fenech, Keystone RV president and CEO has reportedly said “It makes them as much as 2,500 pounds lighter,” and “It’s also helping them get upward of 20 miles to the gallon.”

Some Class D motor homes reportedly now run on bio-diesel, with many using lighter weight materials inside the cabin, on everything from cabinets to flooring.

Richard Coon, president of the RV Industry Association reportedly said that “This industry’s been off 60 to 70 percent for the last couple of years, but now we’re on the way back up,” and “Since about April of this year, we’ve seen increases in the 16 to 25 percent category depending on which product you’re looking at. We’re expecting a 27 percent increase next year”.
