Make A Claim

For accidents or acts of vandalism

  • You will be asked for further details about the incident and given further information about making a claim.
  • We have access to a network of approved repairers (garages/ dealerships) throughout the UK to get your motor vehicle repaired following an accident or act of vandalism.

If you’re involved in an accident, stay calm and follow the advice outlined below:

  • You must stop at the scene.
  • Remain calm, do not admit blame or offer to pay or sign anything at the scene of the accident.
  • If any person is significantly injured call the emergency services.
  • Obtain the name, address and vehicle registration of any other drivers involved.
  • Obtain insurance details from all relevant parties involved in the incident, including name and address of insurer and policy or certificate number.
  • Provide your name, address, vehicle registration and details of the name and address of your insurer and policy or certificate number to all relevant parties involved in the incident.
  • Take all witnesses names and contact information.
  • Make a rough sketch or take a photograph of the accident scene.
  • Notify the Sureterm claims line as soon as possible by telephoning 01480 220054. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • In many cases (dependant on scheme) if your vehicle is not drivable after a road traffic accident they may be able to arrange alternative transport for you whilst your vehicle is off the road.

Remember all accidents must be reported whether the incident is fault or non fault.

For customers who have purchased Motor Legal Expenses Insurance through Sureterm Direct, if you are involved in an accident which is caused by a third party you have a legal right to claim back your uninsured losses from the person who caused the accident. The Sureterm Direct Claims hotline will give you further information about pursuing a claim. Please refer to your Motor Legal Expenses Insurance wording for more information (policy underwritten by Inter Partner Assistance SA Ltd).

If you have not purchased Sureterm Direct’s Motor Legal Expenses Insurance and you do sustain any personal injury in a non fault road traffic accident Sureterm’s claims hotline may be able to instruct solicitors to pursue a claim for compensation (additional fees may be payable).

What to do after a theft, malicious damage or vandalism incident:

Report the theft to the police immediately and make a note of the crime book reference number that they will give you.

If you know where the vehicle is make sure it is safe and secure.

For windscreen claims

  • You will be directed to an authorised repairer.
  • You may arrange to have your windscreen replaced at a location of your choosing within the UK.
  • Have your certificate of insurance and schedule with you to show the authorised repairer.
  • Your policy excess can often be waivered if the windscreen/ window glass can be repaired rather than replaced.
  • Windscreen cover is only available on fully comprehensive policies.

What if I do not have Windscreen Cover on my policy?

  • Some policies will not include windscreen cover, especially policies that do not provide Comprehensive cover.
  • If you are a Sureterm Direct policyholder who does not have windscreen cover on their policy, we have arranged a significant discount from the retail cost of the replacement or repair if you call the Sureterm Windscreen and Claim Line on 01480 220054.
  • You will have to pay the windscreen company in full at the time of the replacement or repair, but we guarantee that it will be at a substantially lower price than the commercial rate.
